Just Because blue and white floral 7x5in card - Day 242 of my 365 day challenge

Just Because blue and white floral 7x5in card -
Day 242 of my 365 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!

I am really pleased with how this floral themed card turned out - monochromatic using blue and white for day 242 of my 365 day challenge.

How I made this card:-

  • I cut out the panel behind the flower using a Spellbinders Create a Card die, and keeping the card in it, I coloured through the die using a variety of blue Distress and dye based inks (Tim Holtz and Altenew).
  • Once I was happy with the blending, I took the card out of the die and added it to some blue Hunkydory Flexiweight card and trimmed round it to leave a small border.
  • I cut the sunflowers out from White cardstock, once again using a Tattered Lace die.
  • I then attached it to the main panel using the Midas Touch Sticky dots.
  • I drew two lines across the bottom of the card using a Tonic Studios black alcohol marker - I like these pens as they don't actually bleed through to the back of the card if done lightly.
  • I stamped the Just Because sentiment (from Birch Press Design) on to some Vellum with a sticky ink (Versamark, Rare Earth's Clear Glass and Hunkydory's Prism Embossing Ink are just a few you could use) and then added some True White embossing powder (from Creative Expressions) and heat set it.
  • I attached the sentiment to the bottom of the card (over the lines) with 2 narrow strips of ultra strong Red Liner tape.
  • Finally, I dotted some Gina K Crystalline drops in some of the spaces to add some detail.

And there you are card that would be great to give to someone to say you are thinking of them and want to send them love...

Dream Big Cute girl with flower and butterfly 7x5 card - Day 241 of my 365 day challenge

Dream Big Cute girl with flower and butterfly 7x5 card -
Day 241 of my 365 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!

Today's card for my challenge is one using some Tattered Lace dies, some Mirri Card and Rare Earth stamps along with some Distress Oxide inks.

How I made this card:-

  • I cut out the girl (from Tattered Lace) using white stamping card and coloured it using alcohol markers (you could colour her anyway you like). I was quite pleased with how her hair turned out!
  • I then cut out two circles, one in Gold Mirri and a smaller one once again using Tattered Lace dies and glued them to each other using Gina K glue.
  • The floral border spray is from Rare Earth's Forest Vines set and added 3 shades of blue Distress Oxide inks (see list of products for colours) to it and stamped it out at the top and bottom of a 7" x 5" white card.
  • I attached the girl to the circle background layers using PVA glue and attached it to the card just above the bottom border spray using thin/narrow foam strips.
  • Finally, I used the same colour Distress Oxide inks and stamped out the Dream Big sentiment at an angle.

And there you are card that would be great to give to someone to say you are thinking of them and want to send them love...

Sunflower in silhouette on checked background square card - Day 240 of my 365 day challenge

Sunflower in silhouette on checked background square card -
Day 240 of my 365 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!

Day 240 of my challenge and once again I have used a Tattered Lace Sunflower die - this time for a birthday card with a hand coloured stencilled background.

How I made this card:-

  • I first of all placed the More Squares 6" mask (from That Special Touch, Creative Expressions) on to a panel of white stamping card and secured it with some purple low tack tape.
  • I coloured it in using a variety of Tim Holtz Distress inks - reds, oranges, yellows, blues and greens trying to blend them all in so the colour changes looked smooth...
  • I trimmed it down so it measured approximately 120mm square and then attached it to a slightly larger panel of gold Mirri card (either Hunkydory or Kanban) having edged it in black using an alcohol marker.
  • Using one of the flowers from Rare Earth's Forest Friends Stamp Collection, I stamped it three times on the right hand side of a 7" square card. As you can see from the photo, I mixed yellow, green and orange inks on to the stamp to give a variegated appearance.
  • I cut out the Sunflower topper out of black card (Lynda Chapman's) from a Tattered Lace die and stuck it on to the panel once again using the Midas Touch Sticky dots and trimmed the stalk so it fitted.
  • I then stuck the whole panel on to the card towards the top left hand corner using PVA glue.
  • Finally, I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment (from Hero Arts) on to some white linen effect card (left over back of a card) in red - it was a Tim Holtz Distress ink and I do like the slightly distressed look it created.
  • I edged the panel with a black alcohol marker and attached it to the bottom of the card using foam pads.

And there you are card that would be great to give to someone to say Happy Birthday and want to send them love...

Sending Lots of Love Daffodil in silhouette 7x5in card - Day 239 of my 365 day challenge

Sending Lots of Love Daffodil in silhouette 7x5in card -
Day 239 of my 365 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!

I am quite obsessed with making cards etc with the main item in black card as a silhouette and so have made this one for day 239 of my 365 day challenge...

How I made this card:-

  • I cut out the Tattered Lade Daffodil die in Lynda Chapman's black card stock and using Midas Touch sticky dots, attached it to some gold Mirri card (Hunkydory or Kanban).
  • I then cut round it leaving a narrow border of the gold Mirri card.
  • Using another Tattered Lace die set (this time the oval label set), I cut the smaller one in white and a large one in black.
  • Before attaching the white panel on to the black, I attached two rows of thin ultra strong red liner tape to the centre of the latter one and added some Gold Glitter Embossing Powder and heat set them.
  • Once I had done that, I glued the white panel (having edged it with some green ink) on to it using Gina K glue (am road testing several types of glue) and then added both to the front of a 7" x 5" white card.
  • I used the Sending and Lots  of Love stamps from Birch Press Designs to stamp the sentiment on the top left and bottom right part of the card.
  • Finally, I used some narrow foam strips to the back of the Daffodil panel and attached it to the centre of the card.

And there you are card that would be great to give to someone to say you are thinking of them and want to send them love...

Birthday Wishes blossom topper on hand coloured background 7x5in card - day 238 of my 365 day challenge

Birthday Wishes blossom topper on hand coloured background 7x5in  card - day 238 of my 365 day challenge

Hi Craft Addicts!

Today's card for day 238 of my 365 day challenge is a Birthday themed one using a Craftwork Cards topper, some Hunkydory Adorable Scorable cardstock and a Tattered Lace die.

How I made this card:-
  • I made the background from some Adorable Scorable cardstock (cream) and coloured it with various inks/watercolour paints. I wasn't too sure how it would turn out but was really pleased how it did. I realise now that I should have added some fixative to it as some of the colour does come off if rubbed - I think you can used a cheap hair spray?
  • I then cut it out using the largest of the Nested Beaded Rectangle die from Tattered Lace.
  • The topper is one I got from Craftwork Cards coloured using Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks - Yellow and Green and when I was happy with it, I removed the excess from it with some kitchen roll.
  • I also cut out 2 flowers out in gold card (again from Tattered Lace).
  • I used Gina K Connect glue to attach the main panel layer to the front of a 7" x 5" white card and then added the two flowers to opposite corners.
  • I attached the Birthday Wishes topper to the centre of it with foam strips.
  • Finally, I used Gina K Crystalline drops to add some detail to the middle of the flowers.

And there you are card that would be great to give to someone to say Happy Birthday....

Thanks - Thistle in silhouette on hand coloured background Kraft card - Day 237 of my 365 day challenge

Thanks - Thistle in silhouette on hand coloured background Kraft card - Day 237 of my 365 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!

Today's card for day 237 of my 365 day challenge is a Thank You card using a Thistle in silhouette as the main focal point.

How I made this card:-

  • I first of all cut out a square (with a scalloped edge) out of white stamping card using a Tattered Lace die - it measures approximately 90mm) and coloured the edges using blue distress inks - I left the centre white and used some grey at the bottom to make it a bit darker.
  • I then cut out the Thistle die cut out in black card (Lynda Chapman's) and stuck it to the panel at an angle using Midas Touch Sticky Dots.
  • I then placed the panel on to a slightly larger gold Mirri one (from Hunkydory) and then added that to another white piece of card  - this time with a narrower border.
  • I then attached the whole panel in the middle of a square (135mm) Kraft Card.
  • I used Gina K Crystalline pen to add some drops around the whole thing leaving a space for the sentiment.
  • Using a Thanks sentiment stamp from Memory Press, I stamped it on the right hand side of the Thistle using Onyx Black ink in the between a couple of the Crystalline drops.
  • Finally I added some white pearlescent paper inside for an insert.

And there you are card that would be great to give to someone to say thank you....

Set of 7 gift cards with wild animals hand painted backgrounds - Day 235 of my 365 day challenge

Set of 7 gift cards with wild animals hand painted backgrounds - Day 235 of my 365 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!

Today's project for day 235 of my 365 day challenge is a set of 7 mini gift cards using a variety of hand painted backgrounds and various animal dies....

How I made these cards:-

  • There are a mix of various background colours on these cards as I tried to match them to the type of animals (all cut out in black card) used - I wanted to see how various types of cards reacted to colouring directly on to them rather than using a mat & layer - some, as you can see were more successful than others - so moving from top left to the bottom, they were done as follows:
  • Octopus on a bluey purple background is on a white linen effect card and coloured using blues and purples Bleeding Art tissue paper which I placed on a craft mat and added some water to it so the ink came out and then painted the area in the middle (I first of all added a frame to all the cards using a ruler and pencil and then used ICraft's purple tape to secure it down). Once it was dry, I used some more water to dilute the centre of the background making it slightly paler. I then used an alcohol marker to mark the frame - must say I have tried a variety of markers and the one that didn't bleed through to the other side was the Tonic Studios Nuvo Black pen. I then added the Octopus using Midas Touch Sticky Dots as glue.
  • Seahorse - was made in the same way as above, again using the Bleeding Art tissue (this time blues and pinks both separately and blending them to make the purple). I cut out the seahorse (from Tattered Lace) and again used Midas Touch Sticky dots to attach it.
  • Meerkat - was done in the exact same way as the Seahorse and again was a Tattered Lace die.
  • Monkey - Again done in the same way, this time using Distress Oxide inks and was again a Tattered Lace die.
  • Elephant - this was a Tonic Studios die and I again used the Bleeding Arts tissue to create the background - this time Greens and yellows.
  • Turtle/Tortoise - This was again Bleeding Arts tissue - as you can see every background is different so you can never know what it is going to turn out like.
  • Giraffe - this probably is the least successful in my eyes as I was playing with Distress Oxide inks for the first time and hadn't realised that if you added water to the colours before they dry they blend rather than layer! I used greens, reds and yellow and a Tattered Lace Die.

And there you are a set of cards that are fun to make as you never know what the backgrounds are going to end up like.

Make a Wish... Steampunk owl in silhouette on Mirri A6 card - Day 234 of my 365 day challenge

Make a Wish... Steampunk owl in silhouette on Mirri A6 card -
Day 234 of my 365 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!

I really love this Steampunk Owl die from Tattered Lace and thought I would make another card using it and some Gold Mirri Card as a background - and here it is...

How I made this card:-

  • I first of all cut out the Steampunk Owl from Tattered Lace using Lynda Chapman's black card and made sure all the pieces had been removed.
  • I then added it to a panel of brushed/matte gold Mirri card (measuring 70x140mm approx) using Midas Touch Sticky dots.
  • When I was happy with it, I added some yellow alcohol marker to alternate feathers.
  • I scored two lines at the top and bottom of an A6 white linen effect card using my Tattered Lace Mini score board and added 2 lines of narrow red liner tape and then added some silver holographic foil to it and burnished it down.
  • I edged the panel with black alcohol marker rather than black card and stuck it to just underneath the top row of foil.
  • I used the Make a wish sentiment stamp from Hero Arts and stamped it on to a small piece of black card using Versamagic ink (or you could use any other sticky ink) and added some bright white embossing powder and heat set it.
  • I then added it to a piece of the gold Mirri card and trimmed it so that was a narrow border around it and stuck it to the bottom of the card using foam pads.
  • Finally, I added 4 blue self adhesive gems to each corner.

And there you are a card that is very easy to make and would make a lovely card to send to that special person.

Special Wishes - Sea landscape hand coloured shaped card - Day 233 of my 365 day challenge

Special Wishes  - Sea landscape hand coloured shaped card -
Day 233 of my 365 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!

Today's card is a hand coloured shaped card using Distress inks and Hunkydory stamps. It has been made for day 233 of my 365 day challenge.

How I made this card:-

  • I thought that this shaped card would be perfect to use for this Special Wishes design so I cut a piece of white stamping card and coloured the sea scene using Distress Inks for the sea and sky trying to make the definition clear between sea and sky.
  • I also left a bit of the top half showing the white card so it looked like clouds and I also coloured the sea and parts of the sky in a darker grey colour to look like darker clouds and waves.
  • I then used 2 pieces of waste paper to cover parts of the design and coloured through them to create the horizon and the land parts, moving the paper down so I could create the lower landscape.
  • I then used the boat stamp (from Ahoy Matey stamp set from For The Love of Stamps by Hunkydory) to stamp it 3 times, trying to make them look like they were moving through the sea.
  • I used a white gel pen to add some colour to the waves and let it dry.
  • I then edged it with a black alcohol marker as I didn't want too many layers on the card and then attached it to the top half of a 5" white shaped card.
  • I stamped the Special Wishes sentiment out using Onyx Black Versafine ink and cut it in two.
  • I edged both pieces of the sentiment in a blue alcohol marker and attached them (with foam pads) to the bottom of the shaped card which I had turned on its' side to make a tent fold card.

And there you are a card that is very easy to make and would make a lovely card to send to that special person.
