For You - sea scene landscape hand coloured 7x5in card - Day 151 of my 365 day challenge

For You - sea scene landscape hand coloured 7x5in card -
Day 151 of my 365 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!

I am really enjoying trying to create landscapes using distress/dye based inks and was pleased with the way this turned out - though it is a bit annoying to find that I have splashed some water on it....anyway...

How I made this card:-

  • I first of all took an A6 piece of white stamping card and coloured the sky in leaving parts of it white to give the impression of clouds. I tried to make the top part of it darker than the rest by adding more ink.
  • I then coloured the bottom two thirds of the card with green inks (Altenew and Tim Holtz), graduating the colour to make it darker at the bottom.
  • I then decided where I wanted the sea to be and added some blue/green to a section of the again making it darker towards each side.
  • Using two strips of paper, I masked off parts of the card and inked through it using True Graphite Altenew ink to create the land on either side.
  • I added some yellow/green to the bottom of each landscape to give an impression of a beach and then added some grey strokes on the left hand one for trees.
  • I then used two different grey alcohol markers to create a border edge and then stamped the fence several times across the panel, leaving a small gap in it so people can go through it :)
  • I edged card with a bright blue alcohol marker and mat and layered it on to a slightly larger panel of black card and then stuck the whole thing on to a 7x5" white card using foam pads.
  • Finally I stamped the For You sentiment in the centre of the card (right hand side) using Versafine Onyx Black ink and then added 2 lots of 3 blue gems (Hobby House).

And there you are a really easy but fun card to make and would be great to give!

Just Because - Multicoloured flower C6 card - Day 150 of my 365 day challenge

Just Because - Multicoloured flower C6 card -
Day 150 of my 365 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!

Well it is day 150 of my challenge and I have made this flower themed card using new Altenew stamps and co-ordinating dies along with one of their sentiments - I really love the font of the Just Because as it is decorative but very legible!

How I made this card!

  • This is a white linen effect C6 card and so I first of all used a score board to embossed 4 lines on the right hand side (first of all doing them from the inside and then went over them again on the outside).
  • I then stamped the larger of the flowers in the Folksy Florals stamp set from Altenew on to some white card - I dabbed some blue, purple and red inks directly on to the stamp as it is a solid image and then repeated the process with the smaller one, this time with Orange, Red and Yellow inks (from both Altenew and Tim Holtz).
  • I used the Onyx Black Versafine ink to stamp the inside of the flower and then cut it out using the co-ordinating die trying to leave an equal border around it!
  • I had some of the circle frames left over from another project (from Hunkydory's Triple circle aperture cards) and stuck 2 on top of each other so it was slightly higher than the stamped image and glued it to the top left hand corner with PVA glue and then stuck the flower inside it with thin foam pads.
  • I then stamped and cut out the stalk/stem and the two sizes of leaves having used two different shades of Altenew ink (Parrot and Moss) and stuck them just below the circle frame.
  • The Just Because sentiment came from a collection of stamps from Birch Press and I stamped it out on black card using Versamagic ink, added some white embossing powder and heat set.
  • I cut it out (making sure it fitted the card) and added it to the bottom using some foam tape.

And there you are a really easy but fun card to make and would be great to give!

Mermaid themed MDF wall hanging - hand coloured background - Day 149 of my 365 day challenge

Mermaid themed MDF wall hanging - hand coloured background - Day 149 of my 365 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!

Well it is raining here at the moment and very very stuffy and so this Mermaid themed MDF wall hanging is something to cheer me up!

How I made this project:-

  • I first of all covered the front of this shaped MDF plaque with some white card using Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue and trimmed it to fit.
  • I then used Tattered Angels Colour Wash Paints to create the sea background (mainly blues, blacks and a hint of white).
  • When it was dry, I added a bit of water to a brush and took some of the colour away to give it some dimension.
  • I also added a hint of white to try and give the impression of waves.
  • I then stamped the Mermaids, seaweed and turtles on to it using Versafine Onyx Black ink.
  • I then cut out one Cloud die (from Memory Box) in grey paper and added some shading to it using a darker alcohol marker and placed it on the left hand side.
  • I stamped out the tree stump on to some white card and coloured it in using 2 shades of brown alcohol markers and cut around it leaving a narrow border and also glued that to the right hand side.
  • I then stamped out the two mermaids from the Beautiful Mermaids For The Love of Stamps collection on to white card (again using Versafine Onyx Black ink) and coloured them in using alcohol markers - flesh colours for the skin, browns and yellows for the hair, and blue/lilac for their tails and top.
  • I cut round them leaving a narrow border and attached them to the front of the panel using a mix of foam pads and glue.
  • Finally I attached some narrow cord to the back of the MDF shape and added another piece of card to hide the glue etc.

And there you are a Mermaid themed MDF wall hanging that is easy to make and would be great to give!

Sun Sea Sand - sunrise or sunset hand coloured square card - Day 148 of my 365 day challenge

Sun Sea Sand - sunrise or sunset hand coloured square card -
Day 148 of my 365 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!

I have had great fun making this card and was quite pleased with how the sunrise/sunset turned out - still learning obviously but hopefully I am getting there! As it is a Bank Holiday here in the UK, this will be brief!

How I made this card:-

  • I used the Set Sail Mask and added a border to a 7in square card using blue Altenew Ink.
  • I then cut a piece of white hammered card and added the fishes and anchors (the fish in blue and the anchor using Versafine Onyx Black ink) and edged in with a blue alcohol marker.
  • I then coloured in the sunset scene using a half circle mask to leave a place where I wanted the sun to go and then coloured both the top and bottom of the panel with various shades of blue Tim Holtz Distress and Altenew inks - trying to give the impression of reflections in the bottom half.
  • I then took two pieces of card and placed them at different angles and coloured through them to create the land and a narrower strip just under the sun.
  • I then coloured the sun in and added some to give the reflection.
  • I then used some grey alcohol markers to create the waves and added some white gel pen.
  • Finally, I stamped the two birds in grey Altenew inks and also some clouds.
  • I placed both the background and the main image on to the front of the card, using foam pads for the latter and used some blue/gold peel off sticker strips around it.

And there you are a bright and cheerful fun card that are easy to make and would be great to give!

Happy birthday Chinese Lanterns hand coloured stamps C6 card for Day 147 of my 365 day challenge

Happy birthday Chinese Lanterns hand coloured stamps C6 card for Day 147 of my 365 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!

I hope you are all having a great Bank Holiday (if it is where you are!) - I have made this bright and cheerful Birthday card for day 147 of my 365 day challenge!

How I made this card:-

  • I used a C6 white linen effect card and marked two lines at the top and bottom of it in pencil and then used some masking tape to protect the centre of the card and coloured the border using Cosmic Shimmer Clear Day and Indigo Mist Colour blending inks. They do lay really well but must admit they don't blend well with each other as they are too wet (but I might be doing it wrong of course!)
  • I put that aside to dry and cut a strip of white stamping card which was slightly narrower than the centre part of the card and shorter than the length!
  • I stamped the string using Tuxedo Black Memento ink at the top of the panel and then the various Chinese Lanterns from the Lovely Lanterns set from For The Love of Stamps) using the same ink, trying to make them equi-distant.  I then added some string using a black Fineliner pen.
  • I coloured the lanterns in using various Chameleon pencils - pink, orange, yellow, blue, red and green trying to give them some shading!
  • Once I was happy with them, I used the remaining blending ink that was on one of the sponges to colour around them.
  • I then stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment (from a sentiment collection from For The Love of Stamps again) in the bottom right hand corner using Clear Glass ink from Rare Earth, added some Seafoam White embossing powder and heat set it.
  • I then added some darker lines using a black alcohol marker to accentuate the borders and added the panel using foam tape.

And there you are a bright and cheerful fun card that are easy to make and would be great to give!

Flowers and leaves - 2 for the price of one - C6 card and CD sleeve - Day 145 of my 365 day challenge

Flowers and leaves - 2 for the price of one - C6 card and CD sleeve - Day 145 of my 365 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!

As it is the Bank Holiday and I probably won't be doing a blog tomorrow, I thought I would write about these two projects which have both used stamping and colouring over embossed images.

How I made these projects:- Both projects have been decorated with the Floral Favourites For The Love of Stamps by Hunkydory using slightly different methods.

Let your Dreams blossom C6 landscape card

  • I first of all blended some blue, green, yellow and orange distress inks in stripes directly on to the top and bottom of the front of the card as I like the way the Linen effect gives it some texture.
  • I then drew a line above/below the strips using a black alcohol marker.
  • I measured a strip of white stamping card which was the same width as the card but was slightly narrower than the space in the middle of the card.
  • I then coloured the whole panel with orange and pink distress inks and stamped 3 large flowers and 2 smaller ones in a row (at different heights) using Versafine Onyx Black ink.
  • I used a waterbrush to "bleach" some of the petals in each of the flowers and then added some stalks with the black alcohol marker.
  • I then used one of the small flowers and dotted them around the panel using the black ink.
  • I then edged the panel with black alcohol marker and placed it on the card with some thin foam pads.
  • I then stamped the sentiment on to some white stamping card, trimmed it and added it to the bottom right hand corner with foam pads.
Floral CD sleeves - hand coloured

  •  I assembled the white CD sleeve (using strong tape) and stamped the large flower on to it in various places using Versamagic and then added Seafoam White embossing powder to them and heat set them using a heat gun.
  • I then repeated the process with the leaves.
  • I used Tim Holtz Distress inks (Purples and Greens) to colour the front of the sleeve and then used some kitchen roll to clean the excess ink from the embossed areas.

And there you are two hand coloured and stamped projects that are easy to make and would be great to give!

Hello - Garden shed and sea scene - hand stamped and coloured 7x5in card - Day 144 of my 365 day challenge

Hello - Garden shed and sea scene - hand stamped and coloured 7x5in card - Day 144 of my 365 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!

I am really pleased with the way the colouring of this card went, in fact, I really like this card and could quite easily be in a boxed frame to make a home decor project!

How I made this card:-

  • I took a piece of A6 white stamping card and divided it roughly into thirds and coloured the bottom 2/3rds with green dye based/distress inks - Tim Holtz and Altenew provides different shades to create the grass effect.
  • I then coloured the top third with blue shades (again Tim Holtz and Altenew), trying to blend them in to create the sky.
  • I added some green shade to the bottom part of the blue section to try and make it a bit more sea like.
  • I cut out the Clouds in white card using Memory Box (Poppy Dies) and stuck them to the cloud part of the image, overlapping them in the middle where I knew the shed would go.
  • I then added a narrow darker line just underneath the clouds to give the impression of a horizon.
  • Once I was happy with the whole effect I then stamped the fence section about a centimetre down several times (from the Our House to Yours stamp set from For the Love of Stamps) using Onyx Black Versafine ink.
  • I used two different shades of brown alcohol markers to colour the fences in and then a medium grey one to add some shadow beneath the fence and around the grass.
  • I also used a small bird silhouette stamp to add some detail to the cloud area.l
  • I also stamped out the Garden Shed, Lawnmower and wheelbarrow on to some white card and coloured them in using a mix of alcohol markers and Zig Clean Color pens.
  • I cut them out (leaving a narrow white border around them. I wanted the wheelbarrow to be coming out of the shed so I cut round 3 sides of the door using a craft knife and placed it on to some textured card and stuck the other two items on it using a tape pen.
  • I then added the shed on to the front of the panel using foam pads and stamped the HELLO sentiment (from Altenew) to the left of the shed using Onyx Black Versafine ink.
  • I finally added the whole panel on to the front of a 7" x 5" white card using some finger lift tape and added 3 pale blue sparkly gems at the bottom of it.

And there you are a hand coloured and stamped 7" x 5" white card that is easy to make and would be great to give!

Thanks XOXO gift card (CD Sleeve) hand stamped with bling - Day 143 of my 365 day challenge

Thanks XOXO gift card (CD Sleeve) hand stamped with bling -
Day 143 of my 365 day challenge

HI Craft addicts!

I have had these recycled CD sleeves for some time and thought it was about time I put them to good use so have made this gift card using Altenew stamps, some embossing powder and some bling!

How I made this project:-

  • I first of all made up the CD sleeve (which I got from Eco-Crafts) by using some strong tape.
  • I added some lines to create a border using a black alcohol marker.
  • Altenew have brought out the Watercolour dots set of stamps and so I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks (various colours to create a rainbow effect) over the block stamp and placed a piece of white stamping card over it.
  • After it had dried a bit, I then used the stripes and stars stamps and stamped over some of them using Onyx Black Versafine ink.
  • I then cut it out to fit inside the frame and stuck it using a Tape pen.
  • I used the label tag dies (2 different sizes) to cut out the larger of the two with Kanban rainbow card and then the smaller one in black (Lynda Chapman's World of Paper).
  • I stamped the Thanks XOXO (from the same set) on to the black card with Versamagic ink and embossed it with Seafoam White powder and stuck the two together.
  • I then added that to the centre of the project using thin foam pads.
  • Finally, to finish it off, I added some pale blue self adhesive gems (from Hobby House).

And there you are a CD sleeve/Gift Card that is easy to make and would be great to give!
