On Your Special Day Cats in a window silhouette 7x5in card - Day 120 of my 365 day challenge

On Your Special Day Cats in a window silhouette 7x5in card -
Day 120 of my 365 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!

Today's card for day 120 of my 365 day challenge is one that I have made using a Tonic Studios die, some background papers from Craftwork Cards and a sentiment.

How I made this card:-
  • I first of all cut out the cats silhouette die from Tonic Studios (the blinds part of it needs to be cut out twice) - I cut it out in white and black card.
  • I then stuck it to another sheet of white card and coloured the frame using a brown alcohol marker.
  • I put a few drops of a Dreamees Pearl re-inker in a palette and coloured in the background, trying to make it darker at the bottom.
  • I used a piece of the brick style paper from the Man Made Collection by Craftwork cards and inked it with some Rusty Hinge Tim Holtz Distress inks and placed in on a layer of Chocolate brown cardstock (from Lynda Chapman's World of Paper), leaving a wide border around each.
  • I added a vellum/parchment strip around the above card and attached it at the back.
  • I then glued the layer on to the front of a 7" x 5" white card and attached the topper on top of it using foam pads so it had some height.
  • I stamped out the diamond tag sentiment - On Your Special Day using Tuxedo Black Memento ink pad on to some white card, stuck it on to some matching Chocolate brown card and cut it out and used some foam pads to attach it to the bottom of the card.
And there you are a card that is a fun card which is simple to make and would be great to give!

One of a kind trio of butterflies C6 linen effect card -
Day 118 of my 365 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!

Today's card (for day 118 of my 365 day challenge) is a Butterfly themed card using Spellbinders die and For the Love of Stamps stamps.

How I made this card:-

  • I first of all cut out the ornate rectangle layer using a Spellbinders die and keeping the card within the die, i coloured it using dark purple, teal and blues Tim Holtz Distress inks.
  • I then stamped the three butterflies from the Butterfly Wishes set from Hunkydory's For The Love of Stamps using the Clear Glass embossing ink from Rare Earth and then covered them with Seafoam White embossing powder and heat set them.
  • I also bent the sentiment One of a Kind on to a acrylic block and repeated the process.
  • I used some alcohol markers to colour them in and then used a purple one to edge the panel.
  • Finally, I stuck the whole thing on to the front of a C6 white linen effect card.

Ahoy Me Hearties! Pirate themed shaped card - Day 117 of my 365 day challenge

Ahoy Me Hearties! Pirate themed shaped card -
Day 117 of my 365 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!

I had great fun making this Pirate themed 6in shaped card using For the Love of Stamps and Masks which I have coloured in using Distress inks and alcohol markers.

How I made this card:-
  • I first of all placed the Shiver My Timbers For the Love of Masks stencil (from their new collection) on the front of a 6" scalloped edged card and coloured the edges using Tim Holtz's Rusty Hinge Distress Inks.
  • I also stencilled through the Ahoy Me Hearties (and sword) with the same ink.
  • I then used the two Pirate characters, Pirate ship, Desert Island and Treasure Chest and stamped them out on white stamping card using Tuxedo Black Memento ink pad.
  • I coloured them in using alcohol markers and cut them out leaving a narrow white border around them
  • I cut two pieces of blue paper (trying to make them look wave like) and stuck them to the bottom of the card (leaving a bit unstuck so I can add the stamped images behind them).
  • I then coloured the third piece of paper with the Rusty Hinge ink and cut it so it looked like an island and glued it to the centre/bottom of the card.
  • I then attached the rest of the characters to the scene using foam pads to raise the ships' sails.

And there you are a card that is a fun card which is simple to make and would be great to give!

Happy birthday elephant gatefold C6 card - Day 116 of my 365 day challenge

Happy birthday elephant gatefold C6 card -
Day 116 of my 365 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!

I created this card using a Tattered Lace die and a sentiment topper from Craftwork Cards along with some spotty background paper.

How I made this card:-

  • I first of all covered both sides of this C6 white gatefold card with the pale green/white polka dot paper, trimming it to fit.
  • I then coloured in the Happy Birthday sentiment topper which is prefoiled from Craftwork Cards using Parrot and Bamboo Altenew inks and edged the topper in a dark green alcohol marker.
  • I cut out the cute elephant in a dark brown card using a Tattered Lace die and placed it on a circle mat which again is a Tattered Lace die - but any would do.
  • I also edged that using a brown alcohol marker and stuck the elephant on to it.
  • I used Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue to attach the sentiment to the right hand side and foam pads to attach the elephant on the other side

And there you are a card that is a fun card which is simple to make and would be great to give!

Live, Love, Grow - Cactus themed easel card - day 115 of my 365 day challenge

Live, Love, Grow - Cactus themed easel card -
Day 115 of my 365 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!

I used 2 shaped Hunkydory cards to make this Cactus themed easel card which I have hand stamped and hand coloured for day 115 of my 365 day challenge!

How I made this card:-

  • I cut one of the shaped cards in half and used the outer edge of the Prickly Plants For The Love of Masks  stencils and coloured a border using the Altenew Brilliant blue ink pad.
  • I then coloured through the flower section using the blue Altenew ink and then some dark red ink which I part blended with the blue to create the purple shading.
  • I then added the cacti in opposite corners using Parrot Altenew ink pads.
  • I cut a strip of vellum/parchment and embossed two sets of the sentiment stamps from the accompanying stamp set in Onyx Black Versafine ink and clear embossing powder.
  • I then attached the strip to the front of the panel using tape at the back.
  • I stamped two lots of the cacti in two different pots and coloured them in using alcohol markers and cut them out leaving a narrow white edge around them.
  • I placed one of them in between the sentiment and one inside the easel card both using foam pads.
  • I had created the easel card by folding the front of the other card in on itself, creased it and then stuck the panel on it (gluing only the bottom half of it)

And there you are a card that is a fun card which is simple to make and would be great to give!

Magic - daisy flower C6 white linen effect card - day 114 of my 365 day challenge

Magic - daisy flower C6 white linen effect card -
Day 114 of my 365 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!

Today's card is a simple but striking card using some Tattered Lace dies and a Hunkydory For the Love of Masks stencil.

How I made this card:-

  • I first of all scored a C6 white linen effect card (with the fold at the top) 4 times on the right hand side and then diagonally - I let the score go over the top row deliberately reducing the gap towards the bottom.
  • I then cut out the Daisy flowers in both dark and light blues (one being smaller of the other) and placed the lighter one on top of the darker one.
  • I had cut out the stem (well it is a die cut from Lawn Fawn) in green card and glued it on the right hand side of the front of the card.
  • I then stuck the daisy on top of that using Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue - some of it went over the edges so I trimmed them to fit.
  • I had also cut out the leaves again using a Tattered Lace die in a different colour green cardstock and stuck them on top of the stem.
  • Finally, I used the word magic from a Hunkydory For The Love of Mask stencil and coloured through it using a brilliant blue ink from Altenew - I made sure that the C was as near as possible to one of the leaves.

And there you are a card that is a fun card which is simple to make and would be great to give!

Let Your Dreams Take Flight - balloons over lake at twilight window card - Day 113 of my 365 day challenge

Let Your Dreams Take Flight - balloons over lake at twilight window card - Day 113 of my 365 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!

I hadn't used the paper pad "Twilight Forest" that Hunkydory produced some time ago so thought it was about time I did and I am quite pleased with the way this card turned out..

How I made this card:-

  • I first of all took the window apertures out of the white card and separated the frames and the solid parts (which I will use another time).
  • I then coloured the frame using Tea Dye Tim Holtz Distress Ink placing a blank piece of paper behind it to protect the inside.
  • I cut a piece of acetate to fit the window and stuck it on the reverse using red liner tape.
  • I then added the two white frames to opposite corners on both sides of the cards so you can't see the glue.
  • For the inside of the card, I used a sheet of the Twilight Forests 5" paper pad and using the Up, Up and Away For The Love of Masks stencils, added two balloons - one large and one smaller. I used the dark blue Altenew ink to do this and then used the co-ordinating stamps to add the balloons with Versafine Onyx Black ink.
  • I also inked some clouds over the moon to dampen it down a bit and added a cloud just to the left of the balloon.
  • I used a dark grey alcohol marker to add some shadows on the water, placed it on the inside of the card (making sure that it looked right), glued it down and then trimmed it to fit.
  • I used one of the window solids, turned it round and stamped the "Let Your Dreams Take Flight" using Versafine Onyx Black ink, edged it in the blue ink and stuck it in the middle of the card front.

And there you are a card that is a fun card which is simple to make and would be great to give!

Unicorn with fantasy castle on abstract background shaped card - Day 112 of my 365 day challenge

Unicorn with fantasy castle on abstract background shaped card - Day 112 of my 365 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!

Well today's card for day 112 of my challenge is one using up a topper made from a hand coloured background and a Unicorn peel off sticker.

How I made this card:-

  • I took a piece of card (80x180mm approx) and coloured a background using pearlescent paints - I think they are Imagination Crafts but could have been from Stamps Away... I used a brilliant blue colour for the sky, yellow and orange for the sunrise and a stunning green for the grass - I kept looking at the Peel off to make sure that it would be in the right place...
  • Once I was happy with it, I put it to one side to let it dry and cut out the geometric circle in white card using a Spellbinders' Geo die and then a slightly larger solid circle in black using a Tattered Lace die.
  • I stuck the white circle on top of the black one and attached it to the middle of a flower shaped 5" white card from Hunkdory.
  • As the background was now dry, I peeled off the sticker and placed it carefully over it and trimmed round it.
  • I finally attached the topper on it using foam pads.

And there you are a card that is a fun card which is simple to make and would be great to give!
