Unicorn - Smile 6" easel card - Day 306 of my 366 day challenge

Unicorn - Smile 6" easel card -
Day 306 of my 366 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!

For today's challenge I have made this "Unicorn" themed 6" easel card. I have used a Peel off sticker, some Gold Mirri card and a hand coloured background.

Unicorn - Smile 6" easel card

How I made this card:-

  • I took the "Unicorn" peel off sticker (which I got from Craft Creations) and placed it on some stamping cardstock (I use either Creative Crafting World or Stamps Away card) which I had coloured it using "Red, Orange and Yellow" paints to create this fiery sunset.
  • I then cut round the frame to give it a small border and then edged it with a black alcohol marker.
  • For the card itself, I folded the front of the card into the fold of the card and creased it so that it became a gatefold card.
  • I used one of the pre-cut "Gold" Mirri mats (6") from Hunkydory and added a "Twisted Vine" background which I cut out from a Tonic Studios die collection in white card, leaving a small border around it.
  • I then attached it to the main card (making sure that I only used glue on the bottom half).
  • I took a pre-cut strip of "matt gold" card (from Kanban) and embossed it using a "Scattered Dot" strip embossing folder from Tattered Lace for the stopper - and added it to where I wanted the card to stop using a double layer of foam pads.
  • I also added the main topper using foam pads in the centre of the card.
  • Finally, I added the "Smile" sentiment which comes from the "Year of Sentiments" from Craftwork Cards. I edged it with some "Red" dye based inks and stuck it to a "label" shape which is again from Craftwork Cards and had been coloured using "Red, Orange and Yellow" inks.

And there you are - a fantasy themed card made using a peel off sticker, some Mirri card and some paints.

Geometric (Decagon) shape 5" fancy card - day 305 of my 366 day challenge

Geometric (Decagon) shape 5" fancy card -
day 305 of my 366 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!

So today's card is a geometric shaped topper (using Spellbinders Designer dies) on an ornate 5" card (from Hunkydory).

Geometric (Decagon) shape 5" fancy card

How I made this card:-

  • I first of all cut out the "Decagon View" die from the Spellbinders Designer Sets collection. I used white card stock and kept the "waste" for other projects.  I then coloured it using alcohol markers (you can of course use any colours).
  • I then took the bits out of the 5" square card (from Hunkydory) again keeping the waste bits.
  • I coloured the centre part of the topper and stamped the "You are amazing.... remember that" on to it using Tuxedo Black Memento ink pad.
  • I stuck the topper on to the centre part using some thick foam pads.
  • Finally, I added some "Sea Breeze" Jewel drops and some "Sugared Almond" Crystal drops from Nuvo (Tonic Studios)

And there you are - a striking card made using a geometric die, a stamp and some alcohol markers.

A Year wiser... Owl themed 5x7in card - Day 304 of my 366 day challenge

A Year wiser... Owl themed 5x7in card -
Day 304 of my 366 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!

Today's challenge (day 304) is an "owl" themed birthday card using Hunkydory stamps, Card-io stamps and some colouring pencils...

A Year wiser... Owl themed 5x7in card

How I made this card:-

  • I took an 7" x 5" card and turned it so that it was landscape and stamped the "branch" that comes in the Stylish Silhouettes "Festive Foliage" series from Hunkydory "For The Love of Stamps" - this can be used for any season as you can add leaves to it too.
  • I then stamped some "Pine cones" again from the same set in both "Onyx Black" Memento ink and some others in "Brown - BR02" from Generation INX using the 2nd Generation technique to make some lighter.
  • Taking the "Owl in flight" stamp from the "Woodland Wildlife", I stamped it just above the branch and added 2 birds from the "Christmas Chorus" stamps (from Majestix stamps from  Card-io) again using "Onyx Black" Memento.
  • I then used some "Blue - B01" Generation INX to add some sky on all of the card using a Smoothie sponge. I also added a few of the sentiment stamps using the 2nd Generation technique to tie it in with the main sentiment.
  • I used Lyra colouring pencils (2 shades of brown) to colour in the branch and owl - think next time I will use watercolour paints as it would give a softer edge to it.
  • I stamped the "Not just a year... Wiser" stamp on to some stamping card and coloured it in the same blue inks as above and edged it in some black alcohol marker.
  • I added it to the card front using foam pads.
  • Finally I cut out a "Spider's Web" from the Halloween 2015 Tattered Lace dies in black and placed part of it on the top left hand corner and trimmed it to fit.

And there you are - a fun birthday card made using a few stamps, some distress/dye based inks and some colouring pencils.

Chalkboard MDF pallet 2017 calendar - Day 303 of my 366 day challenge

Chalkboard MDF pallet 2017 calendar -
Day 303 of my 366 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!

Today's challenge is slightly different in that it is an MDF pallet art wall hanging which I have made into a pretty 2017 calendar.

Chalkboard MDF pallet 2017 calendar

How I made this wall hanging:-

  • The wall hanging itself is made from the Stamps Away "Mini pallet art" kit - I used 6 of the MDF strips and glued them together - to keep the stuck together, I glued two at a time and allowed them to adhere properly.
  • Once that was done, I painted both the front and the back using "White" Pebeo acrylic Gesso paint. I gave it a couple of coats and allowed it to dry in between them.
  • I then added the two additional struts to the back using Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue - this really does strengthen the whole thing and makes it look better too (in my opinion anyway).
  • Using some Collall All Purpose glue I attached the "Floral" background paper which is from the "Mid Summer Mornings" 8" paper pad from Tonic Studios and let it dry. If you are going to used it in a kitchen or somewhere it might be damp, I suggest you use a sealant such as Modge Podge to protect it.
  • I cut out a panel of "Chalkboard" paper (from DoCrafts XCut Xtras self adhesive paper kit) using a "Pin dot rectangles" die from Tattered Lace and placed it towards the top of the panel.
  • I then used a pre-cut die-cut "grey" label and attached it to the lower half of it using thin red liner tape on each side (making sure that the mini-calendar could slide in beforehand).
  • I slid the calendar in (for my next one, I think I will add a cover for it) and finally, using a hot glue gun, added the pink/orange rose to the bottom right hand corner and die cut flower to the left.
  • I also added some twine (wired) doubled up to make a "cord" for it attaching it to the back of the wall hanging again using a hot glue gun.

And there you are - a pretty wall hanging with a chalkboard inset and a 2017 calendar (which can be replaced) using Tonic Studios background papers and some chalkboard paper.

Floral/Gardening themed card for day 302 of my 366 day challenge

Floral/Gardening themed card -
day 302 of my 366 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!

For today's challenge - (day 302), I have made a general really pretty card using one Hunkydory topper and a 6" card.

Floral/Gardening themed card

How I made the card:-

  • I used a 6" card (cream scalloped edge) to make this card (which you can get from most suppliers).
  • I then used a "Gardening themed" topper from the Something for her collection from Hunkydory.
  • I separated the topper into the 3 main elements and glued the largest frame onto the card.
  • I then stuck the smaller frame to the card at an angle (so it was a diamond shape) and cut the overhanging bits off.
  • I then added the main topper to the card using foam pads.
  • Finally I used some "Pale Periwinkle" Jewel Nuvo drops and allowed them to dry (they dry translucent and are really pretty.

And there you are - a general card with floral/gardening theme that has used a Hunkydory topper on a scalloped edged cream card.

Spread your wings - owl on 6in square card - Day 300 of my 366 day challenge

Spread your wings - owl on 6in square card -
Day 300 of my 366 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!

So for today's challenge - can't believe it is now day 300, I have made this "Owl" themed card using Hunkydory stamps along with some dies and colouring ink pads.

Spread your wings - owl on 6in square card

How I made this card:-
  • I first of all used the "Lacy rectangles" dies (I think from Tattered Lace) and cut the largest of the dies in black card and the smaller in white (which I kept in the die and coloured the space inside using "green" dye based ink - I used Generation INX ink pads as they colour beautifully.
  • I added a strip of wavy white card on to the centre of the black panel trying to make it look like wings (I know...)
  • I then took the "Sitting Owl" stamp (from Hunkydory's Woodland Wildlife set from the For the Love of Stamps collection) and stamped it in the centre of the smaller panels using "Tuxedo Black" Memento ink.
  • Once it was dry (which is almost immediately), I glued it onto the larger black panel.using a tape pen.
  • I used some "Blue" inks (both Tim Holtz and Generation INX) to edge a 6" white card (using a wavy strip of card to mask the rest of the card.
  • I added the whole panel on to the card (again when it was dry) to the middle of the card using Collall All Purpose glue.
  • For the sentiment, I used the "Spread the Wings...." stamp from the same Hunkydory collection and 2 of the little owls and stamped them onto a pre-cut label from Craftwork Cards "Stamping Must haves" kit and again coloured the edges with the same inks. I then attached the label on to the card with a double layer of foam pads.
  • Finally I used some "Caribbean Ocean" Nuvo crystal drops in each corner, and three drops on the centre strip.

And there you are - a general card with an owl theme that has used Hunkydory Stamps, Tattered Lace dies, some diistress/dye based inks

Get Well Soon - Scottie dog C6 easel card - Day 299 of my 366 day challenge

Get Well Soon - Scottie dog C6 easel card -
Day 299 of my 366 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!

Today's C6 easel card for day 299 of my 366 day challenge is a "Get Well Soon" card using the "Scottie dog and dog bowl" dies from Tonic Studios.

Get Well Soon - Scottie dog C6 easel card

How I made this card:-

  • I first of all took an A6 card and turned it into an easel card by folding the front part in on itself and creased it using a bone folder.
  • I then placed the bottom half of the easel onto my "Scor-pal" and scored it horizontally every 1/2" and then diagonally using the same spacing.
  • I coloured it using the "Brown - BR02" Dimension INX pad to give a "Brick" impression.
  • I cut out the "Scottie dog" die from Tonic Studios in black cardstock (Lynda Chapman's black card from Creative Crafting World and placed some cream card at the back and stuck it down.
  • I then coloured the "scarf or coat" in "Orange and Yellow" alcohol markers which certainly brightens it up.
  • I also cut out the "dog bowl" in silver and black cards and glued them together. I also cut out a "bone" freehand (I need to improve on that) in cream card.
  • I went into "Microsoft Publisher" and used one of the "speech bubbles" and added the sentiment "Sorry you are feeling 'ruff" - adding a brown tint to it - i printed it out and added another layer of card to it and cut it out.
To make the card up:-
  • I added a thick line of red liner tape and added some of the TODO "Black" foil  to it, making sure that it was in the right place of course!
  • I then placed the "Scottie dog" on to the right hand side of the card allowing a bit of him (or her of course) overhang the edge and then placed the sentiment to the left of it again allowing it to hang over the edge.
  • I then attached both the bone and the dog bowl to the black strip with foam pads so that it made a "stopper" for the front part of the card.

And there you are - a Get Well themed card which I made from a couple of die cuts from Tonic Studios and a sentiment I made in Microsoft Publisher.

  • I took one sheet of the "Flapper Girls" from the "Deco Shimmer" Little Book of Toppers from Hunkydory and placed it on to some "Rainbow" Mirri" Card again from Hunkydory using some Collall All Purpose Glue as it allowed me some "wiggle" time.
  • I then added it to a 5" x 7" white card (again from Hunkydory) towards the top of the card using some thin foam pads.
  • I cut out the "stars" in matt silver mirror card (from Kanban) using the "Tuck in Stars" die from Tattered Lace and snipped a few of them off and glued them on to either side of the card.
  • I then took the "Party Time" sentiment (silver one) from the "Year of Sentiments" pad from Cratwork Cards and trimmed to fit the bottom of the card and attached it using a double layer of foam pads (I used a black alcohol marker to edge it)
  • Finally, I added some "Aurora Borealis" small flat back self adhesive gems in each corner.
