"For Your Fries Only,..." Happy Birthday 5x7in card

For Your Fries only... Happy birthday 5" x 7" card

Hi Craft Addicts!

Something different today!

I often read or hear people saying that Digital or CD crafting is not really crafting as it is not the same as cutting etc. With this card I hope that I can change people's minds to show that you can actually use them in conjunction with your other forms of card making to make wonderful cards...

For Your Fries only... Happy birthday 5" x 7" cardSo...  as you may have seen from other cards on my blog (and on my Pinterest site too), I love Craft Artist Professional 2 and often use it to design backgrounds or an actual card rather than using a "physical" one - so here is one I designed from the "At the Movies" by Bloke digikit from Daisy Trail which I think is a really amusing set of images - it can be bought here

You do need Serif's Craft Artist Professional 2 which is the software programme needed to manipulate and design the card and can be bought here to design your own cards.

So, rather than describing what I did to make the card, I thought I would just show you the design (I printed it off on good quality paper instead of card itself and stuck it to a 5" x 7" white card - this size is fast becoming one of my favourite sizes to use - not too big and not too small - just like Goldilocks!

Digital crafting is brilliant as you can make a one-dimensional image appear 3D just by using some of the effects found on CAP2 such as shadows, filters and stickers. You can also spend as much time (or as little) you want until you are satisfied with the way it looks and then can print it out. Once printed and completed - why not add as many or as few embellishments you like to it if you want. I didn't to this card as it was initially designed for my brother.

Here are the insert and a fun image for the back of the card...(I used a Pigma fineliner to add the edge to it).

If you would like me to design one for you then just get in touch - I will be happy to do it for you. You do also need to be aware of their Angel Policy but this is very generous allowing you to make 100+ of one design and then by changing it slightly you can make more.

You can buy this card on my website here

Happy Birthday flower tapestry 7" x 5" card

Happy Birthday 7" x 5" card - Wishing you the happiest of birthdays...

Hi Craft Addicts!

Happy birthday tapestry die 7" x 5" card Well I had planned to do something different for the next blog, but I was trying out various ways of using the Happy Birthday Tapestry die from Tattered Lace (you can buy it here) and some of the black Adorable Scorable A4 cardstock from the Midnight Moments collection from Hunkydory.

I had cut the die out from white card but thought it would stand out more if I added a black version of it too (not easy to see in the photo), so I glued the two together offsetting the white one slightly to give it a slight shadow effect.

When I came back to look at it, I thought it still needed some black card at the back to make it "pop" so glued it (using Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue) to some (I use the cardstock from Creative Crafting World as it is just the right weight) and was going to then use a whole sheet of the A4 Adorable Scorable black card but changed my mind and cut a panel 16x12cm approx from the patterned end - I really like the gold and silver effect and I don't think it really matters that they are paw prints!.

Happy birthday tapestry die 7" x 5" card insideAfter I had glued the panel on to the 7" x 5" card, I then thought it would look better if some of the things were highlighted so I used a red, yellow and orange Spectrum Noir Alcohol marker to make them stand out - obviously they could be any colour you like!

I then added some Nuvo Ebony black Crystal drops on each of the corner but looking back I would probably have used flat back gems instead as the card is "shiny" so the drops spread a bit.

For the inside, I didn't use an insert but stamped straight on to the card itself. I used the Inkydoodles heart shape from the "Take Flight" stamp set and then the "Wishing you the happiest of birthdays" stamp from the "Amazing sentiments" stamp set from Creative Expressions - you could of course do this on an insert and place it inside....

Products and items you need to make this card

  • 7" x 5" White card 350gsm with matching envelope
  • Happy Birthday tapestry die from Tattered Lace in both white and black card
  • Black card 200gsm - you can buy it here
  • Midnight Moments - delightful doggies A4 black adorable card - you can buy it from Hunkydory here
  • Red, yellow and orange alcohol markers - I used Spectrum Noir but you can use Copics, Promarkers etc
  • Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue
  • Collall All purpose Glue
  • Nuvo ebony black crystal drops
  • Take Flight Stamp set from Inkydoodles
  • Amazing Sentiments stamp set from Creative Expressions - you can get them from all sorts of suppliers but Julia Watts from Creative Expressions sells them here

Snow Leopard - Pollyanna Pickering...DL Card

Snow Leopard - image by Pollyanna Pickering DL Card - No message on front

Hi Craft addicts!

It's been a couple of days since my last post and I thought I better rectify that! Today's card is a lovely image of a Snow Leopard which was drawn by the wonderful wildlife artist Pollyanna Pickering from the Snow and Ice papercrafting kit and the accompanying DVD from Creative Crafting World.

Snow Leopard blank DL card - Pollyanna Pickering designThis is a DL card and is 300gsm linen card and to make it, I did the following..first of all I added some thin red liner tape (Ultra Strong) about inch from both the top and bottom making sure that the lines were straight! I did this along both front and back of the card..

I then removed the top part of the tape on the top line and spread some silver gilding flakes (the one I have is the Magical Metallic pot from My Craft Studio) and rubbed it in until I was sure that all the tape had been covered  - I then used the "scourer" to remove any excess flakes and then placed them back in the pot. I then repeated the above on the lower line.  One word of warning - these flakes get everywhere especially if there is a draught - so PLEASE make sure you close the lid whilst doing this and do it over some scrap paper....

Once this was done, I then matted the snow leopard topper on to some black card (this came with the card kit and is just right for it as it has the same photo corner edges) with a tape pen and then glued it on to the centre of the card (so there was an equal distance between the top and bottom).

Snow Leopard blank DL card - Pollyanna Pickering design insertI am not sure where the bow tie came from, but I glued it together using Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue and placed it just under the topper. I then added the black "dazzler" to it to give it some depth. Once I was happy with the way it looked, I then added some Nuvo Ebony Black Crystal drops along the silver borders again to add some dimension to it.

As the front of the card has been left blank (it can be added if needed), I have designed 2 different ones using the images from the DVD and other digikits from CAP2 from Serif - the first one which is actually in the card has "I believe in YOU" stamped in the centre of it - this stamp is from the "Take Flight" series from Inkydoodles.

Snow Leopard blank DL card - Pollyanna Pickering design insert
The second one which says "May all your dreams come true" which I think comes from a set from Crafter's Companion but could be wrong!

I have stamped both of these using Memento Tuxedo Black dye based ink.

Special Day card - Father's Day or Birthday Card

Craft Addict blog logo

Special Day Card - Father's Day, Birthday or just because..

The "Suits You Sir!" paper pad from Craftwork Cards once again has proved the inspiration behind this 7" (175mm) square card.

Special Day 7" x 7" Suits You Sir cardI used a strip (30x175mm) of the Bowler Hat, Moustache and Pipe paper from the pad and taped it in the centre of the card.  Meanwhile, I used the DoCrafts Cable Knit pattern 6" x 6" embossing folder and embossed some cream linen card and trimmed it slightly on each side.

I then placed 5 contrasting squares in a pattern on it using Create and Craft tape runner. (The squares were punched out using the Woodware Large scalloped Punch) and are approximately 4.5cm each.

I then added one of the round sentiments (Special day with yellow tie) from the Mini Mania Die-cut pad to the central panel. I also edged the panel using a brown Alcohol marker from Spectrum Noir so it stood out a bit. After this, I glued the panel using a wet glue (as there is the debossed pattern on the reverse of it) and stuck it to the grey and white gingham patterned paper from the pad.

You then need to glue the whole panel on to the front of the card making sure it is even on all sides.

Suits You Sir! Special Day - Birthday card 7" square - insert
For the insert, I designed my own using various digikits and items found in Craft Professional 2 (CAP2) from Serif - if you would like more information about this, then just get in touch with me.

As you can see this is for a birthday but it could be altered to cover any occasion.

There you are - one stylish card suitable for all occasions!.

Gift bag for Father's day or birthday "Have a Great Day"

Gift Bag for Father's Day or birthday "Have a Great Day!"

Hi Craft Addicts!

Well, as mentioned in a previous post, I thought I would make something other than a card and I think this gift bag would be great to put a present in for Father's Day or even a birthday.

Gift Bag for Father's Day or birthday "Have a Great Day!" I like Kraft card and paper, so have used this bag which I think goes very well with the Paper Pad and Tickets from "Suits You Sir!" from Craftwork Cards but am not sure if it is still available.

The bag measures 18x27mm approximately so stuck one of the 6 inch square papers (moustache, pipe and bowler hat on white) onto the centre of the bag. Once that was done, I then used some of the tickets that came with the "Suits You Sir" kit and stuck them above and below it.

I then glued two squares (similar to ones I had punched out before using the large Woodware scallop punch) in the middle (one of the contrasting designs is better) and then used one of the matching sentiments from the pad ("have a great day") on top.

As I thought it needed a border, I used wide black and gold border peel off stickers (Craft Creations do a brilliant selection of them) and edged the panel with them. After that, I added some Nuvo Gloss White Crystal drops to each corner.

For the tag, I cut a scalloped edged die-cut (Spellbinders small lacy one used for this) in Kraft card and then glued a ticket on to the front and then added some raffia and tied it to the left hand handle.

And there you are, one quick and attractive gift bag that can be used for all occasions. You can buy them on my website here

Products you may need for this bag

  • Kraft gift bag (can be any style but DoCrafts do good ones)
  • Suits You Sir! paper pad and tickets from Craftwork Cards
  • Have a Great Day sentiment from the Mini Mania Die cuts pad from Craftwork Cards
  • Kraft cardstock 250/300gsm (for the tag)
  • Raffia
  • Nuvo Gloss White Crystal drops (from Tonic Studios)
  • Peel off wide black and gold banner sticker
  • Tape runner (Create and Craft or Crafter's Companion do excellent ones)
  • Cosmic Shimmer PVA Glue
  • Collall All-purpose glue

Travel by Car - I Heart Dad card

Travel by Car - I heart DAD 7" x 5" tent fold card

Hi Craft addicts!

Another card here that can be used for any occasion from Father's Day to a dad's birthday this time using a Hunkydory topper from the Magnificent Men kit and a "I heart DAD" sentiment placed on a 7" x 5" card which I have turned on its' side to be a tent fold card.

Travel by Car - I heart DAD 7" x 5" tent fold cardFirst of all, using one of the "transport" themed topper - "Travel by CAR" from the kit, I matt and layered it on to some white and then black card so that it stood out more.

I then cut out a rectangle (deckle-edged) in a golden coloured Adorable Scorable (7.5 x 9.5cm) card. and then added some black and white Greek key style We R Memory Keepers Washi tape in the centre of it and then placed the topper on top.

Then cut out a larger scalloped/lacy rectangle (10x13cm approx) - think it is a Spellbinders die but could be a Tonic one!! in black 200gsm cardstock (from Creative Crafting World) and placed the whole topper in the centre of this using Stix2 foam pads giving it some height.

Leaving the panel for a moment, I found a border (again from a Hunkydory kit) which I thought coordinated well and cut it into 2 strips and stuck them with a wider band of black card to the right hand side of the card.

I really like the Trio dies from Tattered Lace as they don't have to be used to make flowers - I used 3 different sizes in complimentary colours (ie red, gold and black) from the EMMA set and glued them at different angles and then placed it in the middle of the panel. I then used some STIX2 foam pads and added the sentiment to it.

I haven't added an insert as I felt you could add a variety of them to cover all sorts of occasions - I am going to be producing a range of downloadable inserts that could be printed off and used in this card....

So once again, I have produced a stylish (well I think so) card that uses a variety of products and companies which I think shows that it is really good when you can mix and match them.

Products and items you might need to make this card..

  • 7" x 5" white 300/350gsm card with matching envelope
  • Topper - Travel by Car from the Magnificent Men kit from Hunkydory
  • White cardstock
  • Black cardstock (I got mine from Creative Crafting World)
  • Gold, Red and white border strip from Hunkydory
  • Greek key black and white We R Memory Keepers Washi tape
  • Gold Adorable Scorable card
  • Black, Red and Gold Adorable Scorable cardstock for the "flower"
  • Deckle edged rectangle die (Spellbinders produce a good one in their Nestabilities range)
  • Scalloped lacy edged rectangle die (again this is from Spellbinders I think)
  • Cosmic Shimmer PVA Glue
  • Collall All purpose glue
  • Stix2 small foam pads

So if you think this sounds interesting then why not:-
